Health Starts at Home: For more than 110 years, VON Middlesex-Elgin has been part of Canada’s largest national not-for-profit home and community care organization. VON offers a variety of programs and services in Thames Centre to keep you healthy, independent and safe.

Programs and Services available in Thames Centre:

Meals On Wheels
Nutritious, affordable, home-cooked hot and frozen meals delivered to your home.

Transportation
Volunteer and accessible transportation to your medical and social appointments.

Home Help
Light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and grocery/errand shopping.

Volunteer Visiting
A one-on-one match with a volunteer who visits you in your home or on social outings.

Alzheimer Community Support Program
Support and education for individuals with memory loss and their caregivers.

Adult Day Program
Weekday program providing seniors and adults with a disability a day of recreation and social programs.

Congregate Dining & Social Events
Community meals, gatherings, social events, and educational presentations to promote health and wellness.

Security Checks & Telephone Re-assurance
In-person or telephone safety checks to ensure your safety and well-being.

Caregiver Support
Education and support for individuals and families caring for a loved one.

Cool-Aid
An in-home resource to have personal health information available in case of an emergency.

Hospice and Bereavement Services
Support for individuals with life-altering or life-limiting conditions and their caregivers, as well as for bereaved individuals.

Blood Pressure Clinics
Community clinics to help monitor your blood pressure history with an automated machine.
Thorndale clinic: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, 2 – 4:30pm at the Thorndale Library
Dorchester clinic: Every Thursday, 9am – Noon at Shoppers Drug Mart

SMART Exercise Program
Group exercise classes to help improve strength, coordination, balance and flexibility.
Thorndale classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays  9 – 10am at the Thorndale Community Centre
Dorchester classes: Mondays & Wednesdays 9 – 10am at the Dorchester Community Centre
