Thorndale Lions Club

Contact: [email protected]

Lions International began in 1917 and has grown to 1.4 million members in 46,000 clubs in over 200 countries around the world. Thorndale Lions were chartered in 1947 and since then have been an integral part of the community.  The club was responsible for building and maintaining the Community Centre for over 60 years.  The Thorndale Lions Medical Centre celebrated 25 years of service in 2013 and has been a welcome addition to the area.  They are also big financial supporters of the new Splashpark in town, a great spot for the kids.

In addition to these important projects, we also support Eyes Right, a Lions initiative that buys Hospital equipment throughout SW Ontario, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Lions Foundation of Canada providing guide dogs for those with special needs, our local elementary and high schools, Thamesford minor hockey, and countless other worthwhile projects locally and around the world.

As their Club keeps pace with the growth in the community, they are always looking for new members with fresh ideas to keep us current with all that is happening.  If you would like to meet some upstanding neighbours, contribute to the community, and have some fun along the way, you are invited to check out Thorndale Lions. Anyone interested in becoming a member can have an existing member sponsor them.

For more club information, please visit their website here.

Annual Community Events hosted by the Lions are: the “Trip A Month” draws, Community breakfasts, 3 bingos per year, the car show on the Sunday of the Fall Fair, Social Gaming Night, and a food booth at the fall fair.

There may be opportunities to volunteer without becoming a member.

Meetings: Twice per month - the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Their meetings are held at the Thorndale Community Centre.
