Words of Thanks!
The 3rd annual Winter Carnival was a complete success!
Creating, planning, organizing and executing an event of this magnitude is not for everyone, BUT the incredible showing of community, friends, neighbours and family supporting myself, the service clubs and the community is almost overwhelming.
I would like to VERY sincerely thank so many individuals, families, community groups, volunteers and even a few businesses for working so hard to pull this event off without a hitch. There were so many hands on deck yesterday, it was pretty awesome to experience. We are very fortunate to be living in such an involved community.
There is no way I want to try to thank people individually for fear of leaving someone out, but please know that your small efforts, your big efforts and your expenses have not gone unnoticed. Not one person, organization or group disappointed. And Tabby, you're a rockstar!!
The smiles on the hundreds of faces that attended, the excitement heard in kids' voices that the hot dogs are free (nearly 700 hundred of them!) -everything was free! and seeing so many families just playing around and having a great time is totally worth the hours of work put in to this, the mess in my car and the sticky floors in my house right now. Family time and play doesn't have to be complicated. Keep it simple!
If you attended the event, thank-you as well. Keep sharing your pictures - it's great to see it through everyone's lens. If you dropped money in the donation bin, thank-you very much for that as well. If you missed it, well - you missed it 🙂
We had visitors from far beyond Thorndale, even some that are considering moving to Thorndale so they thought they'd come "check it out." I'm sure they were impressed by the spirit in this community. Thanks for an opportunity to give them a great impression.
The success of this event is through collaboration, and as such we created a Matching Game to create awareness for the Thorndale Community Groups and their role in Thorndale. The winner of the digital camera (donated by IT Cloud Advisors - thanks Roberta J. Fox-Lawson & Steve!) was Danny D (who was busy volunteering during our event). Congrats to Danny!
Lastly, thanks to my family. Dan who tolerates the hours I spent pouring in to I Love Thorndale and my kids who patience when mommy is busy "sending messages" is sometimes hard to hold on to. It was so nice to be able to enjoy the day together. And to my dad (Jim Babcock) & Yvonne Woods-Babcock who haven't missed a winter carnival yet (and that doesn't surprise me)! They came home and had the table set, roast beef dinner ready to eat, dishes washed and helped get our kids ready for bed. Grateful to have tired feet, but be surrounded by such loving support.
With all that said, please continue to support the work of the many groups in Thorndale (Dinner theatres, Lions breakfast, bingos, bike rodeos, fairs, dinners - there's so much).
As always, I encourage you to enjoy the great resource that our website is: http://www.ilovethorndale.ca/
Cheers Thorndale & neighbours - you guys are great!
PS. if you have any suggestions for improving the winter carnival, you can email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
